No false positive there. CamStudio was really found to be bundled with a trojan.

CamStudio is an open-source program and thus is passed onto caretakers or developers who edit the source code every now and then. According to one story, Nick Smith, a caretaker of CamStudio, added the adware code to the software to finance CamStudio’s future development. Because of this, CamStudio became an ad-supported installer that installs other software along with it. It installs these programs without user permission. This behavior is treated as a virus.

That sucks! A pity, CamStudio was such a promising program. Are there other free screen recording software you can recommend?

Bandicam may be a good alternative. It also has a free version. The only problem with the free version is that the video output has a watermark, and the recording has limitations like it would stop recording after a certain amount of time.

    I can also recommend FRAPS.

Same case with me. I also get a virus warning from my antivirus.

CamStudio is reported to be full of malware according to OpenSource users. I’d recommend Acethinker Free Screen Recorder which I have used for many years. It is a web-based tool that lets you record your screen right from your browser. It doesn’t require you to install any additional plug-ins or add-ons.
