How to access Ultra Mobile Voicemail and retrieve voice messages?

Accessing Ultra Mobile’s voicemail can be tricky, most especially with an open GSM Smartphone previously locked to a carrier such as Verizon.
Verizon is notorious at installing apps that usually stay on your phone even after it’s unlocked, so most of the default configurations would have also been setup to work for Verizon, but not for other carriers.
For this tech support article, I am using Samsung Galaxy S7 GSM unlocked, but was previously locked to Verizon. So what happened is when I switched to Ultra Mobile, most of the configurations had to be manually change in order to work for my new Ultra Mobile sim. Among the problems I encountered is with the Voice Mailbox or Voicemail. By default, when you try to access the voice mailbox, it dials *86 (*VM). It works for Verizon but for Ultra Mobile, you get a recorded message that says “Your number cannot be completed as dialed… blah blah blah”. Dialing and holding 1 on the dial pad also doesn’t seem to work as it suppose to. The Voicemail app doesn’t work either and there’s nothing in Ultra Mobile’s FAQ that explains how you would be able to access your voicemail. When you ask their support, they might not have a friggin’ idea of what is wrong with your smartphone. They would be assuming you’re using a standard smartphone that normally works and unless you give them all the details, it would be technically hard for them to assist you.
There is, however, a way to access your Ultra Mobile Voicemail. One method I used that seem to work and that is to dial and call *123. You will be connected to your voice mailbox and be prompted to enter your password (if there is a password) or set a password (if new), it may also ask you a few things to get you to setup your voicemail. Just follow all the voice instructions and you would be able to proceed to your voice mailbox and hear your voice messages.
